Listing on Amazon

Amazon marketplace is different from some other major marketplaces. Unlike other channels, it groups all sellers for the same product together on a shared listing. This listing is identified by a listing ID called an ASIN. When posting listings to Amazon, SellerCloud has the ability to identify if a product is already listed, and if so find and import the correct ASIN based on the products UPC. If an ASIN does not exist for the product being listed, one must be created. The process for posting an item to an existing ASIN and publishing a new ASIN varies. See the pages below for details on how to list to Amazon.

Note: This page explains how to list products that already have existing ASIN on Amazon. If you are trying to post items that haven't been listed on Amazon yet please check this guide.

A product must be ready for Amazon to allow posting on Amazon. It should also be Amazon Enabled to send the correct inventory quantity.

Explanation of the Listing Options

The options above can be grouped to 4 options:

  1. Launch to Amazon Catalog from Manage Inventory page and Post to Amazon (Existing Catalog) from Amazon Properties page. This action will post the items on Amazon but uploaded document will only contain the following minimal information that only affects your product, not the entire listing:ProductID
    • Price
    • Quantity
    • ASIN
    • ProductTaxCode
    • Condition Type
    • Condition Note
    • Fulfillment Latency
  2. Launch to Channel from Manage Inventory page and Post to Amazon from Amazon Properties page. Sends the following info:
    • SKU
    • ASIN
    • TaxCode
    • LaunchDate
    • ConditionType/ConditionNote
    • Title/Brand/Bullet Points/Package Dimensions/Manufacturer/MfrPartNumber (Description)

This action will generate a complete update file. This means that any information included or information not included in the feed may replace or delete product information that has been entered on the listing by other sellers depending on whether you have page detail control. Read more about Page Ownership and Page Detail Controls for Amazon here. It will, however, delete product information in your SellerCentral account that you have may have entered on the product details (for example, if you created the listing through Seller Central and only afterward brought it into SellerCloud).

  3. Post to Amazon (Partial Update) sends the following:
    • SKU
    • ASIN
    • TaxCode
    • LaunchDate
    • ConditionType/ConditionNote
    • Title/Brand/Bullet Points/Package Dimensions.Manufacturer/MfrPartNumber (Description)

This feed is sent with as PartialUpdate which means it only updates the information that is sent. Data which is not included in the feed will not be overwritten (i.e. UPC)

  4. Create new ASIN on Amazon
  5. Some products that you want to post on Amazon may be new to the channel and require a new ASINs to be created. For example, this happens often for handmade or private label items that are not sold by other merchants. SellerCloud offers a functionality that lists the product directly to Amazon and creates a new ASIN. More detailed info can be found here.

Read for options regarding updating existing products in your Amazon catalog here.

Note: SellerCloud does not currently support posting variations to Amazon. Attempting to do so will result in an error: "Product is a Matrix item. Can't post to Amazon." To override this and allow posting individual members of a matrix, enable Client Setting Allow Posting Matrix Parent or Item on Amazon.
