Configure the Predictive Tools

Overview

Sellercloud offers two types of predictive tools:

  • Predictive Purchasing – Forecasts the quantity to order for a predicted amount of future sales. Projection is based on several factors, including the number of past sales for a selected time range, the currently available inventory, and, optionally, the vendor lead time.
  • Predictive Restocking for FBA – Calculates the number of products that need restocking at FBA to meet the expected volume of FBA orders for a range of days.

These tools are similar, but there are differences. For example, if a product has many shadows, Predictive Purchasing can factor in sales for all related shadows of the purchasing SKU (SKU used on the PO) because inventory is maintained by that SKU. Restocking FBA relates only to the actual SKU sold on FBA.

This article describes each of Sellercloud’s Client Settings that should be enabled for the corresponding predictive tool. Learn about all of them by clicking the accordion below.

Only items with sales history will show in both Predictive Purchasing and Predictive Restocking for FBA reports.
The Product Qty Sold Calculate Services must be running on your server! This Windows service is set to run by default.

Predictive Tools Client Settings

Predictive Restocking

Refer to the table below for descriptions of all Predictive Restocking Client Settings:

Predictive Restocking Setting Description Affects Predictive Purchasing
Predictive Restocking: enable for purchasing  The checkbox Reduce OnOrder quantity will show on the Predictive Restocking for FBA page. The onOrder qty will be subtracted from the Qty To Order text box.

This option is typically used if you want to create a PO from this page, and order from a vendor specifically to restock on FBA.

Yes
Predictive Restocking: Consider FC Transfer and FC  Processing as reserved
  • In Predictive Purchasing – When the FBA warehouse is marked Sellable
  • In Predictive Restocking for FBA – Even when the warehouse is marked as Unsellable

FC transfer or FC processing means that Amazon places a reserve on merchandise already sent for various reasons. Enabling this will include that qty as FBA Reserved Qty, which is subtracted from the calculated qty to restock FBA.

These two Client Settings must also be enabled for inventory to be calculated:

  • Always Consider FBA Total Supply Quantity
  • Download FBA Reserved inventory breakdown
Yes
Predictive Restocking: Show main component qty For dependent kits, a new column will appear to show the main component’s available quantity. Yes
Predictive Restocking: enable based on ship from warehouse  Allows a warehouse selection to calculate deficit quantities/sales velocity based on a specific warehouse. Yes
Predicted Restocking allow editing notes Add a “Notes” column to the Predicted Restocking grid.

Saves text to the Master SKU field on the Product Home page.

No
Default Warehouse for Predicted Purchasing Restock After you choose a warehouse and save, the Avail Qty will show what is available for that warehouse, versus the total available quantity when you do not select a warehouse. No
Predicted Restocking: Use popup when adding to FBA shipment A new tab will open when you use the action Add To FBA Shipment. This lets you keep your Predictive Restocking page open in a separate tab so you can easily view and add SKUs to a shipment. No
Predicted Restocking: Do not include Reserved in FBA Available Qty When enabled:

FBA Qty will not include FBA Reserved Qty.

Example: If total FBA Qty is 50 and 30 of that 50 is FBA Reserved Qty.

FBA Qty – 20
FBA Reserved Qty – 30

When not enabled:

FBA Qty includes FBA Reserved Qty.

Example: If total FBA Qty is 50 and 30 of that 50 is FBA Reserved Qty.
FBA Qty – 50
FBA Reserved Qty – 30

No
Predicted Restocking: Display All QtySold Columns QtySold column is replaced with QtySold3, QtySold7, QtySold15, QtySold30, QtySold45, QtySold60, QtySold90, QtySold180, QtySold365 No
Enable Projected Kit Quantity for FBA Predicted Restocking Shows a column Proj. Kit Qty with projected kit quantity.

For example, how much can potentially be assembled based on units available for the components.

No
Predictive Restocking: enable warehouse filter Enables a filter to see available quantity based on warehouse.

Note: This will only change the details of the Available qty column. The deficit qty and qty to order will still be based on the total available qty across all sellable warehouses.

Yes

Predictive Purchasing

Refer to the table below for all Predictive Purchasing Client Settings:

Predictive Purchasing Setting Description Affects Predictive Restocking
Enable per vendor Predictive Purchase settings Calculates velocity based on the Past and Future fields on the Vendor General page  (instead of using the standard 90/Past 14/Future). No
Enable including ProjectedKitQty in AvailableQty for Predictive Purchasing

AND

Enable including FBAInTransit qty in AvailableQty for Predictive Purchasing

Will include data related to FBA including:

  • FBA sales
  • Inventory of the purchasing SKU that can be assembled into Independent kits (typically done only for FBA) as part of the component’s available inventory. Even though inventory has been removed from the component and placed on the parent, you may still want to include it since that is the component’s typical selling format.
  • Inventory of the purchasing SKU that is in-transit to FBA as available inventory (even though In-Transit warehouses are typically not sellable).
No
Enable including non-sellable FBA qty in Predictive  Purchasing Includes the available qty at the FBA Warehouse that has been marked as Unsellable.

Typically, this setting is disabled because the FBA Qty is not available for other sales channels. Therefore, you would want to order more regardless of what is available at  FBA. This setting should not be enabled if your FBA warehouse is marked as sellable.

No
Calculate Qty Sold in X days for Predicted Purchasing It will automatically recalculate the sales data for your products in your catalog. The service runs once every night.

You can also calculate manually on the Predictive Purchasing page.

No
Enable custom sales velocity calculation Use a custom calculation developed for you by Sellercloud. No
Predictive Purchasing: Exclude OnOrder amount for Vendor Shipments PO linked to an FBA Shipment from the On Order column. This is because the qty is already “In Transit column” on the linked FBA Shipment. No
Predictive Purchasing: Exclude Sample Orders
Enable this setting to exclude all orders marked as Sample from the sales calculation. No
Predicted Purchasing Merge Shadow SKU Will include sales from the shadow parent and all shadow children in the prediction calculation of the purchasing SKU. No
Predicted Purchasing use Minimum Order Qty When generating predictive purchasing data, the QtyToOrder field says how much you need to order when Minimum Qty for PO is filled out. When enabled, if QtyToOrder is less than Minimum Qty for PO, Sellercloud will display Minimum Qty for PO.

  • Example: If you have a QtyToOrder of 4 and you put a Minimum Qty for PO to be 6, then you will now see a suggestion to order 6.
Minimum Qty for PO can be found under the Purchasing page of a product.

No
Predicted Purchasing show additional SKUs A + sign will be added by the ASIN column in Predictive Purchasing. Will show all shadow SKUs with their ASINs. No
Predicted Purchasing Ignore zero qty products while adding to PO Lets you select all products on the grid and Add to PO from the Action menu.

Product with 0 Qty will be ignored.

If the setting is disabled, the system will show an error if selected items have zero qty to order.

No
Calculate QtySold YTD as Last 365 days Configures the YTD value on the product’s purchasing page. Sets it year-to-date from the past 365 days, not from the start of the calendar year. (This setting does not affect Predictive Purchasing.) No
Use InStock days in predictive purchasing data
  • Project greater QtySold when InStock days are fewer than days of order interval
  • Minimum sampling of days instock for projected qtySold

Will skip days when the product was out of stock when calculating Days OF Order.

  • Works with the “InStock Days” setting. This projects quantity for items whose “In stock” days are less than Days of Order. It will project what would have sold if the item had been in stock for the entire interval. For example, if days of order are 30 and days in stock are 2 days, and qty sold = 1, the qtySold in 30 days will be calculated as 15.
  • Limits the above setting to be used only when the “In stock” days meet or exceed a minimum set amount of days.
No
