Variation Images

Overview

You can assign images to your Variation Products to represent the differences between your variation options. Once configured, these images will automatically appear on your listings once posted.
Variation Images can be set individually for each product or in bulk via a file upload.

Add Variation Images Manually

You can manually set any image for use instead of the default:

  1. Navigate to Catalog > Manage Catalog > Select a product.
  2. On the Product Details page, go to Toolbox > Variations.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. In the Primary Dimension Images panel, hover over the dimension to reveal two options:
      1. Upload an image.
      2. Open the image gallery. This option allows you to upload and delete images.

  5. To add images to each dimension, simply use either of these image upload options.
  6. When finished, click Save.

Add Variation Images via File Upload

You can also add or update variation images in bulk with a file upload.

  1. Navigate Catalog > Tools > Import Product Info > Import Variations Images.
  2. Download a template in the desired file format (CSV, Excel, or TAB Delimited), and populate the following fields:
      1. MatrixParentProductID – Sellercloud variation parent product.
      2. DimensionName – The name of the specific Variation Dimension, for example, Color, Size.
      3. ValueName – The related dimension value, for example, Green, Small.
      4. ImageURL – A unique web link that contains the Image.
      5. ImageSource – (optional field) The exact source of the image upload, most often displays as InHouseImage, if the field is kept blank.
      6. Caption – (optional field) Short text related to each image for additional context.

    The image shows the Import Variation Images Excel Template.

  3. Save your file, and return to Sellercloud to upload it.
  4. Enable the Add To Existing Matrix option to avoid accidentally deleting images for dimensions not mentioned in the import file.
  5. Click Import.

Matrix Images Channel Specifics

When it comes to sending Variation Images to channels, the following rules apply:

  • If any images are defined on the matrix parent in N-Matrix Images, these will take precedence. Even if only one image is assigned for one dimension, it will be the only one sent. 
  • If there are no images assigned in N-Matrix Images on the parent, it will pull the Default Gallery Image from each Variation child and send this.
CHANNEL SPECIFIC RULES
Shopify When there is more than one Variation Dimension set and there are N-Matrix Specific Images defined, these images will be sent. 
If the client setting Use Dimension Based Shopify Matrix Images is enabled and there are no N-Matrix Images defined, or there is only one dimension, we will send the Default Image. We will also send the Supplemental Images from the variation child. (This only applies if the previously mentioned setting is enabled.)
If the client setting is disabled, the following applies:
We will check if there are N-Matrix Images defined on the matrix parent. If so, we will send that image/s.
If they are not defined, we will send the Default Gallery Image of the variation child.
If the setting Send All Variation Images To Website is enabled on the product, we will include all supplemental images.
eBay If there is no Default Gallery Image set on the child and the Client Setting Use Matrix Main product image if child product image is missing is enabled, we will send the Default Gallery Image of the parent.
Walmart Marketplace For Variations on Walmart Marketplace, Sellercloud will first try to send the Swatch Image.
If there is no Swatch Image available, we will send the Default image.
Note: When we post a variation to Walmart, each SKU gets sent as an individual item in relation to the parent, therefore all of the original supplemental images should still be sent as usual.
NewEgg Variations on NewEgg will receive the Default Images, as well as the Supplemental when posting.
Magento To send variation images to Magento please be sure to enable the Client Setting Post matrix child images to Magento. If this setting is disabled, we will not send the Variation Child images, and instead will only send the Parent images.
TikTok To post each variation with a unique Image, make sure you enable the Setting Product Export: Send Matrix Image in the Website Cart General Company Settings. If this setting is disabled, we will not send the Variation Child images, and instead will only send the Parent images.
