Overview
Dimension images can be set on Variation Products and will display on your listings once posted. This article explains how you can set your Variation Images on individual products and in bulk.
Add Variation Images Manually
You can manually set any image for use instead of the default.
- Go to Catalog > Manage Catalog > Select a product.
- On the Product Details page, go to Toolbox > Variations.
- Click Edit. Go to the Primary Dimension Images panel.
- Hover over the dimension to reveal two options: you can upload an image or open the image gallery.
- The image gallery allows you to upload and delete any images.
- To add images to each dimension, simply use either of these image upload options.
- When finished, click Save.
Add Variation Images via File Upload
You can also add or update variation images in bulk with a file upload.
- Navigate Catalog > Tools > Import Product Info > Import Variations Images.
- Enable the Add To Existing Matrix option to avoid accidentally deleting images for dimensions not mentioned in the import file.
- Download the template and populate the fields.
- MatrixParentProductID – required, the Sellercloud variation parent product.
- DimensionName – required, the name of the specific Variation Dimension, for example, Color, Size.
- ValueName – required, the related dimension value, for example, Green, Small.
- ImageURL – required, a unique web link that contains the Image.
- ImageSource – optional, exact source of the image upload, most often displays as InHouseImage if the field is kept blank.
- Caption – optional, a short piece of text related to each image for additional context.
- Save your file, return to Sellercloud, and press Import.
Matrix Images Channel Specifics
When it comes to sending Variation Images to channels the following rules apply:
- If any images are defined on the matrix parent in N-Matrix Images, these will take precedence. Even if only one image is assigned for one dimension, it will be the only one sent.
- If there are no images assigned in N-Matrix Images on the parent, it will pull the Default Gallery Image from each Variation child and send this.

| Shopify | If there is more than one Variation Dimension set and there are N-Matrix Specific Images defined these will be sent.
If the appsetting* “ShopifyMatrixImagesUseDimensionBased” is enabled and there are no N-Matrix Images defined, or there is only one dimension, we will send the Default Image. We will also send the Supplemental Images from the variation child. (this only applies if the previously mentioned setting is enabled.) If the appsetting* is disabled, the following applies: We will check if there are N-Matrix Images defined on matrix parent. If so, we will send that. If they are not defined, we will send the Default Gallery Image of the variation child. If the setting Send All Variation Images To Website is enabled on the product, we will include all supplemental images.

| eBay | If there is no Default Gallery Image set on the child and the Client Setting “Use Matrix Main product image if child product image is missing” is enabled, we will send the Default Gallery Image of the parent. |
| Walmart Marketplace | For Variations on Walmart Marketplace, Sellercloud will first try to send the Swatch Image.
If there is no Swatch Image available we will send the Default image. Note: When we post a variation to Walmart, each SKU gets sent as an individual item in relation to the parent, therefore all of the original supplemental images should still be sent as usual. |
| NewEgg | Variations on NewEgg will receive the Default Images, as well as the Supplemental when posting. |
| Magento | To send variation images to Magento please be sure to enable the Client Setting Post matrix child images to Magento. If this setting is disabled, we will not send the Variation Child images, and instead will only send the Parent images. |
| TikTok | To post each variation with a unique Image, make sure you enable the Setting Product Export: Send Matrix Image in the Website Cart General Company Settings. If this setting is disabled, we will not send the Variation Child images, and instead will only send the Parent images. |
Overview
Dimension images can be set on Variation Products and will display on your listings once posted. This article explains how you can set your Variation Images on individual products and in bulk.
Matrix Images
By default, the child variation images will be pulled from the dimension images set on the
variation’s image manager. (You can access the image manager from the Toolbox >N-Matrix>
Image Manager.) That image will be sent to the channel to display when selecting the variation.
Manually set images
You can manually set any image for use instead of the default.
Bulk-updating images
1. Open the toolbox on the Matrix parent, click Matrix, then click Image Manager on the submenu.
2. Next to each variation, you can either select any image already loaded on the variation, or select an image from a local file on your PC.
Bulk-updating images
You can also update variation images in bulk with a file upload.
1. Navigate Inventory > Import Product Info > Import Product N-matrix Images.
2. Enable Add To Existing Matrix option to prevent deleting images for dimensions not mentioned in the import file.
3. Enter the image URL next to the defined matrix parent and dimension, and upload.
