Overview
Once you integrate eBay, you can post products and manage your eBay listings from Sellercloud. However, you need to keep in mind that eBay has very strict policies for listed products. Failure to comply with them may result in listing removal, account suspension or termination, and other negative consequences.
With Sellercloud, you can ensure that all your listing are policy-compliant. Sellercloud can identify such issues quickly, thanks to the eBay Listing Compliance feature. The goal of this feature is to show all your eBay listings that are in violation of eBay requirements. It displays the total number of violations broken down into four categories:
- Aspects adoption
- HTTPS
- Non-eBay links
- Returns policy
Prerequisites
Get a valid Open Auth Token to use this feature:
- Go to Company Settings.
- Click Toolbox and select eBay Settings > General Settings.
- Check the Open Auth Token Expires On: field in the Credentials section.
- If your token has expired, click Actions > Get Open Auth Token to renew it.
Ensure Listing Compliance
To access and use the eBay listing compliance report:
- Go to Company Settings.
- Click Toolbox and select eBay Settings > Listing Compliances.
- Configure the search filters:
- SiteCode – The site where the listing is published. You can configure more than one site code per company.
- Select Compliance Type – Show only specific types of violations.
- Click Search.
- Review the information in the report:
- ProductID – Shows the product’s Sellercloud SKU.
- ListingID – Shows the product’s eBay listing ID.
- Type – Shows the listing’s type of eBay policy violation. If the Type is HTTPS or Non-eBay links, that usually means that there is something wrong with the Description Template you are using.
- Message – Shows details about the policy violation.
- Description template (name & ID) – Shows the product description template’s name.
- Optionally, to export the listings, click Select action, select Export to Excel, and click Go.
Compliance Types and Messages
Refer to the details below to learn more about the violation types shown under the Type column, as well as the Message column, which provides details about each type.
ASPECTS_ADOPTION
Filter by this Compliance Type to see if your listings have missing or invalid Item Specifics. For each category, eBay maintains a list of required and recommended item aspects.
The Message column for such violations indicates that for the given violation, specific aspects are either missing from the listing or have invalid values. It specifies whether the violation is for required aspects, recommended (preferred) aspects, or soon-to-be-required aspects:
- MISSING_OR_INVALID_REQUIRED_ASPECTS
- MISSING_OR_INVALID_PREFERRED_ASPECTS
- MISSING_OR_INVALID_SOON_TO_BE_REQUIRED_ASPECTS
HTTPS
Filter by this Compliance Type to see if any listings are violating eBay’s policy of using an ‘HTTP’ link (to eBay and non-eBay sites) in the listing instead of ‘HTTPS’ links.
This requirement includes links to externally-hosted listing images. If the server hosting the listing images doesn’t support the HTTPS protocol, you can’t use it to host listing images.
The Message column for HTTPS compliance identifies where in the listing the violation occurs:
- NON_SECURE_HTTP_LINK_IN_LISTING
- NON_SECURE_HTTP_LINK_IN_PRODUCT
For HTTPS policy violations, you just need to either remove the HTTP link or update it to HTTPS.
OUTSIDE_EBAY_BUYING_AND_SELLING
Filter by this Compliance Type to see if any listings are violating eBay’s policy of not allowing links in the listing to sites outside of eBay. Including a personal email address or a phone number in the listing is also a violation of this policy. All communication between sellers and buyers should be handled through eBay’s communication system. The only exceptions to this outside links rule are links to product videos, information on freight shipping services, or any legally required information.
The Message column identifies the specific type of data (e.g., telephone number) that violated the policy. For each of these violations, revise the listing, removing this information:
- UNAPPROVED_DOMAIN_WEBLINK_IN_LISTING
- PHONE_NUMBER_IN_LISTING
- EMAIL_ADDRESS_IN_LISTING
RETURNS_POLICY
Filter by this Compliance Type to see if any listings have return periods that are no longer supported. For most eBay categories, the minimum return period that can be stated in a Returns Policy is 14 days for domestic and international sales, but some categories require a minimum 30-day return period.
The only thing you can see under the Message column for this violation is UNSUPPORTED_RETURNS_PERIOD. Revise your listing or return business policy with a supported return period for the site and category.
